Aerial disconnect-ground switch – reliable protection of power lines

The RUNM III SA 24/4S aerial disconnect-ground switch is a three-pole device designed for the safe disconnection and grounding of overhead lines with a rated voltage of 24 kV. The integrated design with a frame and a common drive for all poles ensures synchronization of switching operations, which is crucial for safety and operational efficiency. The device is widely used in transformer stations, switchgear and on transmission and distribution lines.

Construction and design features

The disconnect switch is built on composite-silicone insulators, which guarantees high mechanical strength and resistance to weather conditions. The current path of each pole consists of main contacts made of copper, protected against corrosion by tinning (optional silver plating). Shaped movable contacts ensure reliable self-alignment and a large contact surface, minimizing the risk of electric arc formation. A flexible contact in the grounding pole compensates for cable movements, preventing damage. The frame made of hot-dip galvanized steel profiles provides durable corrosion protection. Current terminals allow connection of aluminum cables with a cross-section of up to 95 mm² (versions up to 120 mm² and 150 mm² available), providing flexibility in connection selection.

Application and benefits

The device allows for safe switching operations without the need to disconnect the entire line, thanks to the high switching current of 100A. Visible insulation gap increases safety during maintenance and repair work. The possibility of manual or remote control (using NSP-7/SO-2 or NSP-8/SO-2 series drives) adapts the device to various installation needs. In addition, the disconnect switch meets the requirements of PN-EN 62271-103, PN-EN 62271-1 and PN-EN 62271-102 standards, which confirms its high quality and compliance with applicable standards. It also has a Certificate of Conformity from an accredited unit.
