Mining Signal Cable – Reliability and Safety in Harsh Conditions

This signal cable, designed for mining applications, combines durability, resistance to mechanical and electrical damage, and compliance with stringent safety standards. It is ideal for power control devices, safety and control systems in open-pit, borehole and underground mines. The cable's construction with individual shielding on the cores minimizes interference and ensures stable signal transmission.

Construction and Properties

The YnHKGSY cable features a robust construction designed for the extreme conditions prevailing in mining. Multi-wire copper conductors class 5 (according to PN-EN 60228) provide good flexibility and resistance to material fatigue. The insulation made of special PVC guarantees high resistance to abrasion, chemicals and temperature influences. Each core has an individual screen made of tinned copper wire braid, which effectively reduces electromagnetic interference and ensures precise signal transmission. The outer sheath made of flame-retardant PVC (compliant with PN-EN 60332-1 and PN-EN 60332-3-24/IEC 60332-3 cat. C) increases safety by limiting the spread of flames in the event of a fire. The cable is available in gray (for 300/500V voltage) and yellow (for 0.6/1kV voltage).

Applications and Parameters

This cable is used in power and control installations in mining, both in areas without explosion hazard and in zones with a risk of methane (classes “a”, “b” or “c”) and coal dust (classes “A” or “B”) explosion. It is designed to operate at temperatures from -40°C to +70°C, and the minimum permissible laying temperature is -5°C. The operating voltage of the cable is 300/500V or 0.6/1kV (depending on the version), and the test voltage is 2.0 kV or 3.5 kV, respectively. The minimum bending radius of the cable is 10x its outer diameter. The nominal conductor cross-section is 1.5 mm², and the number of cores in this model is 33 (32 working cores + 1 protective core).
