Fast charging and universal use in the 18 V system

This device is dedicated to quickly restoring the readiness of lithium-ion batteries from the Bosch Professional 18 V series. With a charging current of 4 A, the energy replenishment process takes place in a time that allows for minimizing work stoppages. For example, a battery with a capacity of 4.0 Ah reaches 80% charge in approximately 48 minutes, which in workshop practice means the ability to quickly swap the power source and return to tasks without long waiting. For smaller cells, such as those with a capacity of 2.0 Ah, this time is reduced to just 24 minutes to reach the same level.

This system is not limited to older battery models only. The charger is fully compatible with newer ProCORE18V cells, including high-capacity models (e.g., 8.0 Ah or 12.0 Ah), although charging time naturally extends with them (to approx. 113–172 minutes depending on capacity). Importantly, the device supports both 14.4 V and 18 V voltages, making it a universal solution for the entire professional tool fleet.

Mounting comfort and overheating protection

The device construction has been designed with ergonomics in mind, both on the construction site and in the workshop. Weighing just 550 g, the body is very lightweight and compact, making it easy to carry and store in tool cases. However, it does not lack features facilitating stationary work – the charger has a wall-mounting option, which allows for saving space on the workbench and maintaining order in the charging zone.

A key element ensuring battery durability is the air cooling technology used (Active Air Cooling). This system actively dissipates heat generated during the intensive charging process. Thanks to this, cells do not overheat, which directly translates into extending their cycle life. The charging process status is visually indicated by an LED, allowing the user to quickly assess progress without checking the indicators on the battery itself.

Application and working conditions

The device is ideal as an addition to the tool kit for electricians, fitters, or construction workers using Bosch Professional power tools. The intelligent control system selects the appropriate charging parameter for the connected cell, eliminating the risk of incorrect operation by the user. The operating temperature range is from 0°C to 45°C, allowing for safe use even in more challenging environmental conditions typical of construction sites.

Charging times vary depending on cell capacity – from approximately 24 minutes for a 2.0 Ah battery (to 80% level), through 48 minutes for 4.0 Ah, up to over 2 hours for large ProCORE18V cells with 12.0 Ah capacity. Full charge requires slightly more time: e.g., approx. 35 minutes for a 2.0 Ah cell or approx. 65 minutes for 4.0 Ah. For the largest batteries, this time may exceed 170 minutes.

The set includes the GAL 18V-40 Professional charger itself and cardboard transport packaging; batteries are not part of the delivery of this stationary or portable model (depending on the purchase configuration). The device requires connection to a standard electrical network (230 V), and its compact dimensions mean it does not take up much space even in cramped temporary working conditions.
