90° Elbow GW 22x3/4 - thin-walled galvanized carbon steel, crimped PC4002G0220600

Application in Heating and Water Installations

This component connects steel pipes with threaded connections, which is crucial at transitions between press-fit systems and traditional fittings. Thanks to its 90-degree elbow design, it allows for a change in pipeline direction in a perpendicular plane without the need for additional reducing couplings or bends. The one-piece construction made of carbon steel ensures joint rigidity while eliminating the risk of leaks caused by loose components.

In practical installation, the product is ideal where the installer must connect a pipe with an outer diameter of 22 mm (typical for heating installations) to a component featuring a 3/4 inch tapered gas thread. The BSPT (Rc) thread is characterized by its tapered form, meaning that sealing is achieved through the deformation of the thread itself during tightening – no additional gaskets or tapes are required, although for gas installations, compliance with local regulations should always be verified.

Construction and Corrosion Protection

The material is galvanically zinc-plated alloy steel, providing a primary barrier against corrosion in humid environments. The surface is coated with a zinc layer on both the press-fit section (sleeve) and the threaded section. Such surface treatment is standard for fittings intended for central heating (C.O.) systems, where water temperature can affect metal durability.

A key structural element is the stop flange located in the pressing zone. Its function is to ensure a stable grip on the pipe and facilitate installation – the installer clearly sees the final pressing point, minimizing the risk of improper crimping. The absence of gaskets within the elbow construction itself (except for possible seals in the pressing heads of other manufacturers) simplifies the selection of mounting accessories and reduces the number of potential failure points.

Operational Parameters and Working Conditions

The component is designed for operation at a working pressure of up to 16 bar at an ambient temperature of 20°C. This value is sufficient for most domestic and industrial central heating installations as well as low-pressure water supply systems. The bending angle is exactly 90 degrees, allowing precise routing of pipelines in hard-to-reach areas or when connecting pipelines running parallel to walls and ceilings.

For the installer, the total length of 50 mm is significant – this parameter determines how much space the fitting occupies in the installation area and whether it fits between other fittings without the need to cut pipes "to the exact length". The product does not have built-in drain valves or air vents, making it a pure connecting element with a purely directional function.

It is worth noting that despite the high strength of alloy steel, during installation one should avoid over-tightening the thread to prevent damaging the zinc layer or causing material cracking due to mechanical stress. Proper installation guarantees leak-tightness throughout the entire service life of the heating or water system.
