Reducing connector 18x15 - thin-walled galvanized carbon steel press-fit PC5243 0181500
Application and Construction Characteristics
This component is a steel reducing connector designed for installation systems where it is necessary to connect pipes of different outer diameters – in this case, transitioning from 18 mm to 15 mm. Thanks to the use of carbon steel with electro-galvanization, the fitting ensures corrosion resistance under typical operating conditions of water installations. It is a one-piece product, which eliminates the risk of leaks resulting from joining multiple elements, and its simple, linear structure facilitates installation in tight spaces.
A key feature of this connector is its suitability for jointless methods. One end has a compression sleeve (for 18 mm pipe), while the other end is of the push-fit type (for 15 mm pipe). Such a configuration requires the use of dedicated pressing heads during installation. It is worth noting that both connections are protected by a zinc layer, which shields the material from rusting both inside and outside the housing.
Operational Parameters and Working Conditions
In practical installation, the most important parameter for this type of fitting is mechanical and pressure strength. This connector is designed for operation at a working pressure of up to 16 bar at an ambient temperature of 20°C. This means it will perform well in standard water supply installations and low-temperature heating systems where there are no extreme pressure surges or very high temperatures.
The total length of the component is 55 mm, allowing for precise adjustment of the distance between pipes without the need for additional extenders. The presence of a stop flange on one of the connections facilitates pipe centering during pressing and prevents its movement during installation. It should be noted that the product does not have built-in drain valves or air vents – it serves solely as an intermediate element in the medium flow.
Key Mounting and Material Features
When selecting components for a pressed system, it is important to match the sealing material and the type of protective coating. In this model, seals made of ethylene-propylene-diene monomer rubber (EPDM) were used, which are characterized by good resistance to aging and typical media transported in water installations. The contact surface of both connections (both 18 mm and 15 mm) has been electrolytically/electro-galvanized, ensuring uniform corrosion protection along the entire length of the component.
This element combines the functionality of diameter reduction with the simplicity of mechanical assembly – it requires the use of a pressing head to join the compression sleeve with the Ø 18 mm pipe and the push-fit end with the Ø 15 mm pipe. The entire assembly is made of carbon and alloy steel, ensuring appropriate rigidity while maintaining pressure strength up to 16 bar at room temperature. The 55 mm length and the presence of a stop flange facilitate precise installation without the risk of pipe displacement during pressing. The lack of additional accessories such as valves or caps makes this a purely functional reducing element with a simple geometric shape; the product does not have UL or FM certifications, meaning it is intended for standard building installations compliant with local standards for pressed steel systems.
