Steel pipe 18x1.2x6 m - thin-walled galvanized carbon steel, crimped /6m/ PCTUBE-EU18

Application and Characteristics of 18 mm Steel Pipe

The pipe, made of carbon steel with a wall thickness of 1.2 mm and an outer diameter of 18 mm, is a solution dedicated to installation systems requiring rapid assembly using the pressing method. Thanks to its thin-walled construction and galvanic zinc coating, this component combines the strength of metal with corrosion resistance, which is crucial in heating or ventilation installations. This material is compatible with pipes made of non-alloy steel (material number 1.0034) complying with the PN-EN 10305-3 standard, allowing for safe joining of different installation segments without the risk of material incompatibility.

Installation and Compatibility with the Pressing System

A key feature of this pipe is its suitability for connection with Press Carbon fittings using jaws with profile B (equivalent to profile V in the Rems system). This tool selection ensures a tight and durable connection within the diameter range from 15 to 54 mm. When using standard EPDM seals, the pipe is suitable for operation under typical temperature conditions. However, for circuits with higher temperatures, it is recommended to replace the seal with fluororubber FKM (green), which expands the system's operational capabilities.

In the context of sealing, it is worth noting that the standard version uses black EPDM elastomer compliant with the PN-EN 549 standard, whereas for higher temperatures, the manufacturer provides the option to use green fluororubber FKM. The entire system is covered by a 10-year warranty, which serves as solid confirmation of its reliability over a long period of use.

Limitations and Operating Conditions

Despite high mechanical strength, the product has clear application limits. According to the manufacturer's guidelines, these fittings should not be used in potable water installations. This is important information for designers and installers planning to expand water supply networks – dedicated solutions for food-grade media should be selected. This pipe, however, is ideal as a load-bearing or distribution element in dry or damp technical rooms, where priority is given to rapid installation and resistance to environmental conditions.

Thanks to precise dimensions (outer diameter 18 mm with a wall thickness of 1.2 mm) and a protective coating applied via galvanic/electrolytic zinc plating, this pipe minimizes the risk of damage during transport and installation. Its thin-walled structure facilitates work in hard-to-reach locations without compromising the rigidity of the entire installation circuit, while the standard segment length of 6 m allows for efficient planning of distribution routes without the need for additional intermediate connections.
