Overcurrent circuit breaker 10kA series 3-pole FAZ-Z10/3 278926
Protection for circuits with sensitive electronics and high inrush currents
The FAZ series circuit breaker, designed for three-phase installations, features a specific tripping characteristic of type Z. This is a key feature for circuits powering devices that require very precise protection against minor short circuits while simultaneously tolerating specific operating conditions. Thanks to this solution, the device reacts significantly faster than typical circuit breakers with characteristic B or C, which is invaluable when powering transformers, fluorescent lamps, or sensitive electronics. At the same time, thanks to its construction allowing operation with up to 60 V DC on a single pole, the range of applications extends to control systems and industrial automation.
Application and reliability in demanding conditions
The device has been designed with installations requiring high switching capacity in mind. The rated short-circuit switching capacity of 10 kA (in accordance with IEC 60947-2) at voltages of 230 V and 400 V makes it a robust protective element in industrial and commercial distribution boards. The high energy limitation class (class 3) means that in the event of a short circuit, the circuit breaker interrupts the current very quickly, minimizing thermal and dynamic effects on the entire installation.
It is worth noting the mounting versatility:
- The possibility of connecting power supply from both the top and the bottom facilitates cable routing in compact distribution boards.
- The busbar system allows for quick series connection of multiple devices (busbar), speeding up the installer's work.
- The terminals are crimped, ensuring a secure grip on the conductor and reducing the risk of it slipping out under vibration – important, for example, in marine applications (it holds marine certifications).
Mounting parameters and operating conditions
The circuit breaker construction is adapted to standard DIN rails in modular distribution boards. The device width is 3 modules, corresponding to three protected poles (3P). During installation, remember to allow for an appropriate installation depth of 70.5 mm to ensure free airflow and avoid overheating of adjacent components. The device handles conductors with a cross-section from 1 to 25 mm² (both solid and stranded), providing great flexibility in cable selection.
For professionals, environmental parameters are also important:
- Operating temperature range: from -25 °C to +75 °C – allows installation in unheated halls or technical rooms.
- Enclosure protection rating: IP20 (standard for devices mounted in distribution board enclosures).
- Insulation voltage: 440 V, and the withstand impulse voltage is 4 kV.
It is worth noting that the device does not have a function for simultaneous disconnection of the neutral pole (N), which is standard for most overcurrent circuit breakers used as overcurrent protection in three-phase circuits without the requirement to disconnect the neutral conductor as the first or last element of the disconnection sequence. Thanks to the rich range of accessories and the contact position indicator, operation and network status diagnostics are significantly facilitated for both service technicians and end users. Key data such as the rated current of 10 A and characteristic Z are an integral part of this model's design, ensuring compatibility with the specific requirements of control and signaling circuits.
