Circuit breaker FAZ-S2/1, 10kA series (1-pole) 278607
Low-Current Circuit Protection with High Short-Circuit Resistance
This single-pole circuit breaker from the FAZ series, with a rated current of 2 A, is designed for precise protection of control circuits, LED lighting, and low-power devices in industrial and commercial installations. A key feature of this device is its breaking capacity of 10 kA (in accordance with IEC 60947-2), meaning it effectively responds to short-circuit faults even in locations with high short-circuit power, where standard domestic circuit breakers (compliant with EN 60898) might fail. This ensures the installer that the device will not weld shut during a short circuit, while the end user gains reliable protection against fire and equipment damage.
The device offers versatile mounting and connection options, significantly facilitating work in complex distribution boards. Power supply can be connected from either the top or bottom, and crimped terminals allow safe connection of conductors with a cross-section from 1 to 25 mm² (both stranded and solid wires). Notably, adjacent circuit breakers can be busbar-connected using special busbar connectors – a solution that accelerates installation and reduces the number of contact points in the cabinet. With a width of one module (18 mm), it enables efficient use of space in the distribution board, while a mounting depth of 70.5 mm requires only standard DIN rail installation space.
Application in Harsh Environmental Conditions and Specific Design Features
Thanks to energy limitation class 3 and impulse withstand voltage of 4 kV, this circuit breaker effectively protects the installation against the effects of overvoltages and transient voltage spikes. This is particularly important in marine or industrial applications where operating conditions are more rigorous – the device holds certifications allowing operation in marine environments. The operating temperature range from -25 °C to 75 °C ensures suitability for use in unheated production halls or technical rooms without risk of false tripping or mechanism damage.
Operational safety is ensured by insulation rated for 440 V, allowing free operation in standard 230/400 V AC networks. For specialized applications such as automation systems or emergency power supplies, the device also supports DC voltages up to 60 V DC. Low power losses of approximately 1 W minimize component heating even with dense mounting in distribution cabinets, while the IP20 protection rating effectively prevents accidental contact with live parts – provided the device is installed in a proper distribution enclosure.
The device features a contact position indicator that visually displays the circuit status (ON/OFF), which is crucial during maintenance or fault diagnosis without requiring cover removal. The possibility of additional accessories enables integration with remote control systems or alarm signaling, making it a flexible component of modern building and industrial automation systems. Thanks to this solution, the installer can easily expand the functionality of the distribution board in the future without replacing the main protective element.
