Remote actuator for BG2 NZM2-XR24-30DC 259836
Remote control of power switches in DC circuits
This modular motor drive enables remote switching on, switching off, and tripping of overcurrent circuit breakers and disconnectors from the NZM2 and N(S)2 series. The device is designed for operation in control circuits powered by DC voltage in the range of 24 to 30 V DC. Thanks to the use of a motor drive, the operator can remotely manipulate the state of the main contacts without the need for physical access to the circuit breaker enclosure, which is crucial for installations mounted in hard-to-reach locations or requiring rapid response from the control center.
The device supports both pulse and continuous (latching) control, providing flexibility in designing control schematics. The response time is short – the switching-on delay is approximately 60 ms, and the switching-off time is 300 ms, allowing for effective load management. It is worth noting that this drive has synchronization capability, meaning it can operate in systems requiring synchronized action with other devices. However, a limitation must be observed: it cannot be combined with mechanical locking due to the construction of the drive mechanism.
Flexible mounting and operational safety
The device construction allows for easy mounting as a modular functional group directly on the circuit breaker. For installers, the possibility of local manual control is significant – in case of power failure or service needs, the circuit breaker can be operated traditionally. Operational safety is enhanced by a locking function in the "0" (OFF) position. The drive can be secured against unauthorized switching on using three padlocks with a shackle thickness of 4–8 mm, which is a standard in industrial applications requiring LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures.
Valuable for designers are parameters regarding mechanical and electrical durability. The device is rated for approximately 20,000 operating cycles, ensuring a long service life even with frequent switching. The maximum number of operations is 120 per hour, with a required pause between switching-on and switching-off cycles of at least 3 seconds. It operates correctly at voltages from 85% to 110% of the rated value Us (i.e., in the range of approx. 20.4 V to 33 V for nominal 24-30 V), ensuring reliable operation even with DC network voltage fluctuations. During operation, the drive consumes approximately 250 W (for the 24-30 V DC range), which must be considered when selecting the control power supply.
Application and system compatibility
This drive is primarily used in low-voltage switchboards where remote line de-energization or rapid power disconnection is required in case of a fault detected by the automation system. It is compatible with NZM2 (and N(S)2) size circuit breakers, supporting three- and four-pole circuits. When designing the system, note the specifics of auxiliary contacts – double auxiliary contacts M22-CK11(20/02) should not be mounted in the central contact socket when using this specific remote drive model (NZM2-XRD).
The device meets rigorous safety and quality standards, holding UL/CSA certifications and compliance with IEC60947. Consequently, it can be used in international installations without the need for additional adaptations. The module dimensions are compact (approx. 150 mm depth and 105 mm height/width), allowing for a compact switchboard design despite the addition of remote control functionality.
