Overcurrent circuit breaker – reliable protection of electrical installations

This three-pole overcurrent circuit breaker from Eaton's AZ series, with a rated current of 100A and C characteristic, is a key element ensuring safety in every electrical installation. The rated short-circuit breaking capacity of 20kA (at 230V and 400V) guarantees an effective response in the event of overloads and short circuits, minimizing the risk of damage and fires. The design adapted for mounting on a TH35 rail allows for easy integration with existing switchboards.

Characteristics and application

The circuit breaker is characterized by a C characteristic, which means it is ideal for protecting circuits with devices generating inrush currents during start-up – such as motors, transformers or heating devices. It provides a delayed response to short-term current surges, allowing for trouble-free start-up of these devices, while effectively protecting the installation against overloads. A wide range of wire cross-sections (2.5 – 50 mm²) allows connection of wires of different thicknesses, increasing the flexibility of the installation. Energy limitation class 3 and surge category III confirm high resistance to interference and the ability to protect against the effects of overvoltage.

Construction and mounting

The circuit breaker has been designed with ease of installation and reliable operation in mind. A width of 4.5 modules allows for efficient use of space in the switchboard. The degree of protection IP20 provides protection against accidental contact and against the ingress of solid objects larger than 12.5 mm. The possibility of using additional equipment (e.g. auxiliary contacts) expands the functionality of the circuit breaker, adapting it to the specific needs of the installation. Made of high-quality materials, it guarantees long-lasting and trouble-free operation in a wide range of ambient temperatures (-25°C to +55°C).
