DCAC Distribution Box – Comprehensive Protection for Photovoltaic Installations
The EMITER hermetic IP65 DCAC distribution box is an advanced solution designed for the safety and efficiency of photovoltaic installations. It provides a smooth transition between direct current (DC) and alternating current (AC), while simultaneously offering robust protection against overvoltages and other disturbances. Its sealed housing and used components guarantee reliable operation even in harsh environmental conditions.
Construction and Application
The distribution box is designed to work with single-phase photovoltaic installations. It allows connection of one string of PV panels and an MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) controller, optimizing energy harvesting from solar panels. Additionally, it is equipped with surge arresters for both the DC and AC sides, minimizing the risk of damage caused by sudden voltage spikes. Equipped with a residual current device (RCD) with a sensitivity of 100mA further increases safety, protecting against electric shock.
Protection and Safety in Practice
A key element of the distribution box is the use of Noark type 2 surge arresters. A DC surge arrester with a voltage of 1000V protects the photovoltaic string from the effects of lightning strikes or other network disturbances. In turn, an AC surge arrester with a current of 20A protects the alternating current side, ensuring safe operation of the inverter and other installation components. The IP65 protection class guarantees resistance to dust and water, allowing the distribution box to be mounted both indoors and outdoors. This is particularly important for installations exposed to changing weather conditions.
Thanks to this solution, the installer can be sure that the photovoltaic system is properly protected against potential failures, and the end user – can enjoy a reliable source of energy for many years.
