Insulated ferrule HI 2X6/14

The insulated ferrule HI 2X6/14 has been specifically designed for crimping onto multi-strand wires, where its primary task is to hold all individual wire strands together and stiffen them before being tightened in a screw terminal. Thanks to its double construction, it allows for the crimping of two wires into a single ferrule, which significantly simplifies the installation process and reduces the number of mounting components.

Materials and construction

The ferrule is made of a thin-walled copper tube that is electro-galvanized with tin. Electro-galvanizing protects the copper surface from oxidation, even in humid environments.

The insulating part is made of durable polyamide (PA) in black, which features an operating temperature of up to +95°C. The insulation functions as a strain relief, protecting the wire core from bending at the connection point with the ferrule, and provides protection against accidental short circuits.

The double construction of the ferrule, with a total length of 26 mm and an uninsulated part length of 14 mm, enables the seamless mounting of two wires with a cross-section of 6 mm² each. An internal diameter of 4.8 mm ensures a perfect fit for standard multi-strand wires.

Operating parameters and safety

The HI 2X6/14 ferrule operates within a wide temperature range from -30°C to +95°C. The maximum operating temperature of the insulation is +95°C.

The polyamide insulation significantly increases the connection's resistance to mechanical vibrations and reduces the possibility of an electrical short circuit. The insulating strain relief protects the wire core from breakage at the connection point.

The design meets the AWG 10 standard requirements for each of the two wires, guaranteeing compatibility with international wire cross-section marking systems.

Compliance with standards and certificates

The construction of the ferrule partially meets the requirements of the DIN 46228/4 standard, which applies only to the copper part of the ferrule. The product has a UL certificate – current information is available from the manufacturer.

The ferrule is halogen-free; the materials used in production are free from substances harmful to the atmospheric ozone.

The packaging contains 100 ready-to-install ferrules, enabling the execution of larger installation projects without the need for frequent replenishment purchases.
