The air circuit breaker of the ETIPOWER EPL‑20 series is an advanced solution designed for industrial installations with high energy requirements. The device features a rated current of 2000A and a short-circuit breaking capacity of 85 kA.

Device construction and design

The circuit breaker is manufactured as a fixed three-pole version, enabling simple installation in fixed switchboards without the need for withdrawable mechanisms. The enclosure, with dimensions of 404.4 × 408.4 × 298.5 mm and a weight of approximately 51 kg, has been designed with optimal use of installation space in mind.

The construction is based on proven technical solutions from the EPL/EPH series, characterized by 100% current-carrying capacity of the neutral conductor (N). This is a key feature for modern installations subjected to harmonics and other undesirable electrical phenomena typical in industrial environments.

The device provides an IP protection rating of IP20. Main connections are realized via busbar connection, and the terminals for main circuits are located on the rear side of the apparatus.

Advanced OCR protection system

The heart of the system is the intelligent electronic OCR release, which, in addition to basic protective functions, offers advanced power monitoring capabilities. The system records and stores faults and monitors the operating temperature of the device.

Thermal settings are adjustable in the range of 0.4‑1, while magnetic settings can be adjusted within the range of 1‑15. This flexibility allows precise adaptation of the protection characteristics to the specifics of a given application.

The circuit breaker is standardly equipped with a peak current release, which responds to rapid increases in short-circuit current, and a motor drive enabling automatic control of switching operations. Additionally, the device includes a closing coil and a complete set of auxiliary contacts (5×NO + 5×NC) for status signaling.

Operating parameters and standard equipment

The device operates at a rated AC voltage of 690V and a frequency of 50/60Hz. The rated insulation voltage is 1000V, and the impulse withstand voltage can reach a peak value of up to 12 kV. The rated short-circuit breaking capacity at 415V is an impressive 85/85 kA.
