Power factor correction capacitors – reliable operation and installation protection
LPC capacitors are components used to improve the power factor in electrical installations. They are used wherever there are inductive loads, such as motors, transformers or power supplies. Their task is to compensate for reactive power, which translates into reduced energy losses, network load and improved system efficiency. The LPC 40 kVAr, 400V, 50Hz capacitor is a three-phase element designed to operate in networks with a voltage of 400V and a frequency of 50Hz.
Construction and characteristic features
LPC capacitors are characterized by a dry construction, filled with environmentally friendly polypropylene resin, which provides excellent heat dissipation properties. The internal connection in a ∆ (delta) configuration guarantees stable operation and high reliability. The aluminum housing contains overpressure disconnectors – protection against damage in the event of a failure. Screw terminals facilitate installation and connection to the electrical installation. The capacitance value of the capacitor is 265.3 µF per phase. The dimensions of the capacitor are 136 mm in diameter and 310 mm in length.
Application and benefits
LPC capacitors are used both in individual installations (power factor correction for specific loads) and in automatic capacitor bank systems, where they ensure voltage stabilization and reduce energy costs. Thanks to the use of high-quality polypropylene film, the capacitors are characterized by self-regeneration – in the event of minor insulation damage, it is repaired, which extends the life of the device. In addition, all capacitors from the LPC series are equipped with discharge resistors, which, after disconnection from the power supply, reduce the voltage at the terminals to a safe level (75V within a maximum of 3 minutes). This is important for the safety of people working on the installation. The built-in overpressure disconnector protects the capacitor bank from serious damage in the event of a failure of one of the elements.
