LPC capacitors are a proven element in reactive power compensation systems, finding applications both in individual loads (transformers, motors, rectifiers, lighting) and in advanced capacitor banks. They are used where it is necessary to improve the power factor and reduce energy losses. The construction based on metallized polypropylene film ensures high reliability and long service life.
Construction and Application
LPC capacitors with an internal connection in a delta (∆) configuration are characterized by low losses and self-healing ability. Filled with environmentally friendly polypropylene resin, they effectively dissipate heat, which translates into stable operation over a wide temperature range. The aluminum housing contains overpressure disconnectors – a safety element protecting against failures caused by overloads or overheating. The LPC 40 kVAr, 440V, 50Hz capacitor is designed to operate in networks with a voltage of 440V and a frequency of 50Hz (a 60Hz version is available on request). The rated current of this model is 52.5A.
Safety and Protection
Safety is key. LPC capacitors are equipped with discharge resistors, which reduce the voltage at the terminals to a safe level (75V) within a maximum of 3 minutes after disconnection from the power supply. Additionally, the internal overpressure disconnector protects the capacitor bank from serious damage in the event of a failure of a single capacitor. This makes the installation more resistant to interference and failures.
Mounting and Physical Parameters
The LPC capacitor with a capacitance of 219.2 µF has a diameter of 136 mm and a length of 310 mm. It can be mounted both vertically and horizontally (additional support is recommended for horizontal mounting). The bottom screw provides grounding of the housing and enables stable mounting of the capacitor. Screw terminals ensure a solid connection to the electrical installation. It is worth remembering the operating temperature range from -25°C to +55°C.
