Reactive Power Compensation with LPC Capacitors
LPC capacitors are a reliable solution for reactive power compensation in electrical installations. They are designed to improve the power factor, which translates to reduced energy losses and network load. They are used in conjunction with various inductive loads, such as transformers, electric motors, rectifiers, and fluorescent lighting – both in single applications and in automatic capacitor bank systems.
The LPC 50 kVAr, 400V, 50Hz capacitor is manufactured using dry technology, filled with non-toxic polypropylene resin. This ensures excellent heat dissipation properties and long-term reliability. The construction with an aluminum container and overpressure disconnectors guarantees safe operation.
Construction and Characteristic Features
LPC capacitors utilize metallized polypropylene film with low losses, ensuring high energy efficiency. The internal connection in a ∆ (triangle) configuration optimizes the device's operating parameters. An important structural element is the discharge resistor, which reduces the voltage at the terminals to a safe level (75V) within a maximum of 3 minutes after disconnection from the power supply – in accordance with PN-EN-61048, PN-EN-60252 and EN-60831-1/2 standards. This minimizes the risk of electric shock during servicing or maintenance of the installation.
The LPC 50 kVAr capacitor has screw terminals, providing a solid and reliable connection with the wiring. Its dimensions – diameter 136 mm and length 310 mm – allow for easy installation in various installation configurations. Additionally, the capacitor housing is grounded via the lower mounting screw, which increases safety. The built-in overpressure disconnector protects the capacitor bank from damage in the event of a failure of one of the elements.
