LPC Capacitors – Reactive Power Compensation in Electrical Installations

LPC capacitors are reliable and proven devices designed to compensate for reactive power in electrical installations. They are used both for individual inductive loads – such as transformers, electric motors, rectifiers, and fluorescent lamps – and in automatic capacitor bank systems. Their task is to improve energy efficiency and reduce losses in the network.

Construction and characteristic features

LPC capacitors utilize metallized polypropylene film with low losses, ensuring high durability and reliability. These are dry-type capacitors filled with environmentally friendly polypropylene resin, which effectively dissipates heat. The aluminum housing protects the internal components and contains overpressure disconnectors, ensuring safe operation. The LPC 50 kVAr model has screw terminals, suitable for higher powers. The rated capacitance values are 3x274 µF at a voltage of 440V and a frequency of 50Hz. The dimensions of the capacitor are 136 mm in diameter and 310 mm in length.

Installation and operation

LPC capacitors can be mounted both vertically and horizontally (horizontal mounting requires additional support). The lower screw allows grounding of the housing and securing the capacitor. It is important to maintain appropriate working conditions – the ambient temperature should be between -25°C and +55°C. These capacitors comply with the standards PN-EN-61048, PN-EN-60252 and EN-60831-1/2, which guarantees their safety and reliability.
