Residual Current Device (RCD) is a key element of any electrical installation, providing protection against electric shock and preventing fires resulting from insulation damage. The EFI-P4 A 25/0.3 model is a four-pole switch designed to operate in TN-S, TN-C-S, TT and IT networks, where the neutral and earth conductors may be separated or combined. Its function is to quickly disconnect the circuit in the event of a leakage current, protecting both people and equipment.

This particular model is characterized by a rated current of 25A and sensitivity A, which means it reacts to both AC and pulsating differential currents. The rated differential current is 0.3A – the value at which the switch will trip and cut off the power. The short-circuit strength of 10kA guarantees its reliable operation even in the event of high overvoltages. Mounting is on a DIN rail, which facilitates installation and integration with existing electrical infrastructure.

Construction and user features

The switch has been designed with ease of use and reliability in mind. It has a contact position indicator (ON/OFF) which makes it easy to identify the device status. Additionally, the "Test" button allows you to regularly check its functionality. The connection terminals allow the connection of multi-strand and solid core wires with a cross-section of 25 mm², and their construction allows the use of insulated busbars. The ability to secure the lever against accidental adjustment (plombing) increases safety. Compact dimensions (width 4 modules, depth 68 mm) allow mounting in standard distribution boards. The degree of protection IP20 provides protection against finger contact and against the ingress of solid objects larger than 12.5 mm.

Application and compliance with standards

EFI-P series residual current circuit breakers are ideal for use in domestic, commercial and industrial installations. Compliance with DIN VDE 0100-482 and IEC 60364-4-482 standards guarantees safety and compliance with legal requirements. It is important to select the appropriate value of the differential current (IΔn) depending on the intended circuit – for additional protection (direct contact) ≤ 30 mA is recommended, and for protection against indirect contact ≤ 300 mA. In installations with infrared heating or other devices generating potential fire hazards, a differential current of IΔn = 30 mA is recommended. The rated AC voltage is 415V at a frequency of 50/60 Hz and the rated insulation voltage Ui is 440V. The impulse withstand voltage is 0.4kA which provides additional safety during short circuits in the electrical installation.
