This surge arrester class T2 (B) is designed to protect direct current (DC) installations, such as photovoltaic systems, from the effects of atmospheric and switching surges. Its leakage current-free design minimizes the risk of unwanted currents in the circuit, which is particularly important in DC applications. It provides effective protection of voltage-sensitive components, such as inverters and solar panels.
Construction and application
The ETITEC SM T2 DC 1000/20 Y RC surge arrester is mounted on a standard DIN TH-35 mm mounting rail and occupies 3 modules. Optical indication of operation facilitates quick identification of the need to replace the device after a surge. It is designed for DC systems with a voltage of up to 1000V, and its effectiveness is confirmed by its ability to discharge pulses with a peak value of 20kA (8/20μs) and short-circuit resistance at 30kA. The maximum cross-section of the cables that can be connected is 35mm² for single- and multi-core cables and 25mm² for flexible cables.
