Universal connector for drainage pipes made of various materials

The Funke VPC® flexible connector is a reliable solution for joining pipes of the same nominal diameter, made of various materials – cast iron, PP, PE, PVC, stoneware, concrete, GRP and others, both smooth, corrugated and ribbed. A key feature is the ability to connect pipes with different outer diameters resulting from differences in material type. The connector design is based on an elastomeric sealing sleeve, a positioning basket made of plastic ensuring centric alignment of the connected elements, and two steel alloy straps enabling precise diameter adjustment.

Construction and principle of operation

The connector consists of several key elements. The sealing sleeve is made of ethylene-propylene rubber (EPDM) in accordance with PN-EN 681-1 WC/60 and is characterized by a double sealing profile guaranteeing tightness confirmed by PN-EN 1610. Projections on the circumference of the sleeve ensure proper engagement with the positioning basket. The basket is made of a durable plastic resistant to low and high temperatures. Its conical central part and grooves for guiding the tape allow for centric and smooth adjustment of the pipe diameter. The steel alloy fastening straps adjust the sleeve to different outer pipe diameters, and their design prevents the rubber from slipping or wrinkling during tightening. The whole creates a compact, yet flexible unit with a stable shape.
