Characteristic B provides fast tripping in the event of a short circuit, while allowing for trouble-free starting of devices with motors – which generate momentary current surges. Type A means that the circuit breaker reacts to alternating currents with a frequency of 50Hz, making it ideal for most domestic and commercial applications.
