Surge arrester spark gap T1 N-PE Iimp=100kA In=100kA Up=1.5 kV with switch SPA180N

Type T1+T2 Surge Arrester for N-PE Connection, Integrated with Fuse and Signaling

This device is designed to protect electrical installations against lightning strikes and overvoltages in TN, TT, and TN-C-S systems. It is engineered as a combined T1 and T2 surge arrester, meaning it effectively handles both direct lightning strikes (T1) and overvoltages originating from the grid (T2). Its construction is based on a spark gap – a technology that enables conduction of very high surge currents without damage.

A surge current rating of 100 kA (10/350 µs) and a maximum discharge current of 100 kA (8/20 µs) make this device suitable for structures with high lightning risk – such as buildings equipped with lightning protection systems, transformer stations, or installations in areas with high lightning density. A follow-current extinguishing capability of 50 kA ensures that after the arrester operates, no electric arc is maintained, thereby eliminating fire risk.

Mounting is performed on a TH-15 mm DIN rail and occupies only 2 modules – its compact form facilitates integration into distribution boards without the need for cabinet expansion. Conductors with cross-sections ranging from 2.5 mm² to 35 mm² (both solid and stranded) can be safely connected – providing sufficient flexibility for most commercial and industrial installations.

The built-in fuse protects not only the arrester but also the entire installation against consequences of its failure. If the spark gap malfunctions, the fuse disconnects it from the network – while an optical indicator on the housing immediately signals the tripped status. This is a key advantage for the installer: there is no need to check with a multimeter or disassemble the cabinet – a visual inspection suffices.

The remote signaling contact (potential-free changeover switch) enables connection to monitoring systems or building automation – e.g., to a BMS controller or alarm central unit. The rated continuous operating voltage AC is 350 V, and the N-PE protective voltage is 1.5 kV – parameters well-matched to standard 230/400 V networks.

It is not suitable for outdoor installation (IP20) and must be mounted inside a distribution board. It operates over a wide temperature range – from -40°C to +80°C – making it useful even under extreme climatic conditions.

This solution is primarily intended for professionals: installers, designers, and lightning protection specialists. It requires no specialized maintenance – correct connection and monitoring of the indicator are sufficient. Its structural simplicity and reliability are crucial where safety admits no alternative.
