ASI-BUS Installation Cable – Reliable Communication in Industrial Automation

This two-core ASI-BUS installation cable, with a cross-section of 1.5 mm², is designed for building AS-Interface communication networks in industrial automation systems. It ensures reliable data transmission and power supply to devices such as sensors and actuators. Its construction and materials guarantee durability and resistance to harsh working conditions.

Construction and properties

The cable features a flexible construction with multi-strand tinned copper cores, which simplifies installation and ensures good flexibility. The core insulation made of polyolefin provides effective electrical protection. Additionally, the outer polyurethane (PUR) coating increases resistance to abrasion, oils and other mechanical and chemical factors typical of industrial environments. The yellow coating color facilitates identification in the installation.

The cable has a cross-section of 1.5 mm² and an outer diameter of approximately 1.5 mm. It is designed to operate in a wide temperature range – from -25°C to +80°C during installation and operation (without vibration). The core resistance is a maximum of 13.7 Ohm/km, and the insulation resistance is a minimum of 1GOhm x km. The operating voltage is 32V or 48V (depending on the version), and the test voltage is 1kV for 15 minutes.

Applications and compliance with standards

The ASI-BUS cable is primarily used in the construction of AS-Interface (AS-I) bus systems, an open communication standard used to connect sensors and actuators in industrial automation. Thanks to UL 1581 (FT2) certifications, the cable is approved for use in American markets. It also meets IEC 60332-1-2 (flame retardant) standards and is halogen-free according to IEC 60754-1, which increases safety. It is not intended for underground installations.
