Chain guide cable – reliability in demanding conditions
This specialized chain cable HELUKABEL® SHIPFLEX® 109 is designed for operation in harsh conditions, especially in marine and industrial applications. It is characterized by high resistance to external factors, flexibility and long-term reliability. The cable is shielded, which ensures reduction of electromagnetic interference, and its construction guarantees safety and efficiency.
Construction and properties
The cable is made of high-quality materials, which translates into its unique properties. It has twisted copper strands, providing high flexibility, even with frequent bending. The strand insulation is made of a special material, and the protective strands are yellow-green for easy identification. The screen made of tinned copper wires (coverage approx. 85%) effectively protects against interference. The whole is surrounded by a durable polyurethane (PUR) coating in orange (RAL 2003), resistant to abrasion, oils and UV radiation.
It is worth paying attention to a few key features:
- Halogen-free: meets the standards DIN VDE 0482 part 267 / DIN EN 50267-2-1 / IEC 60754-1, which increases safety in the event of a fire.
- Oil resistance: compliant with IEC 60092-350 Annex F – ideal for industrial environments exposed to contact with oils.
- Flexibility at low temperatures: maintains its properties even at -40°C (IEC 60092-350 Annex E).
- Radiation resistance: withstands exposure to radiation up to 100x10⁶ cJ/kg (up to 100 Mrad).
- Compliance with standards: meets the requirements of UL Style 20234 and Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU (CE marking).
Technical parameters and application
The SHIPFLEX® 109 cable has a strand cross-section of 50 mm² (AWG 1) and consists of four strands. Its outer diameter is approximately 37 mm. This is an ideal solution for applications in chain guides, where high flexibility and resistance to mechanical damage are required. Thanks to the shielding, it is also suitable for applications requiring protection against electromagnetic interference. The cable is metered, making it easy to precisely adjust the length to the needs of the installation.
Let's remember the manufacturer's recommendation – in the case of applications going beyond standard solutions, it is worth consulting with HELUKABEL® technical advisors.
