Cable for energy chains – reliability in harsh conditions
This shielded HELUKABEL SHIPFLEX 340 chain cable is a solution designed for operation in demanding industrial environments, especially where continuous movement and exposure to external factors occur. The cable is characterized by high flexibility and resistance to mechanical, chemical damage and weather conditions. It is ideal for use in ports, shipyards, as well as in machines and equipment operating in difficult conditions.
Construction and properties
The SHIPFLEX 340 cable features a solid construction. It has 24 copper cores with a cross-section of 1 mm², twisted in pairs to minimize interference. The cores are insulated with a special material, and the entire cable is surrounded by a screen of tinned copper wires, which provides effective protection against electromagnetic interference (EMC). The outer jacket made of polyurethane (PUR) guarantees resistance to abrasion, oils and UV radiation. Additionally, the cable is halogen-free, which increases safety in the event of a fire.
- Mechanical strength: Thanks to the construction based on twisted strands cl.6 (according to DIN VDE 0295) the cable is extremely resistant to bending and twisting, making it ideal for use in energy chains.
- Chemical resistance: The PUR coating provides resistance to the action of oils, greases and other chemicals, allowing operation in an aggressive environment.
- Safety: The halogen-free coating minimizes the emission of toxic gases in the event of a fire, increasing the safety of users and installations.
- Interference protection: The effective screen protects against the influence of electromagnetic interference, ensuring stable signal transmission.
- Wide temperature range: The cable retains its properties over a wide temperature range – from -40°C to +80°C (flexibly and stationary), allowing it to be used in various climatic conditions.
Applications and compliance with standards
The SHIPFLEX 340 cable is primarily used in:
- Port and shipyard machinery
- Industrial robotics
- Mobile devices exposed to harsh working conditions
- Industrial automation systems
- Applications requiring high resistance to external factors
The cable meets a number of standards and has certificates:
- UL Style 20234
- DIN VDE 0482-332-1-2 / DIN EN 60332-1-2 / IEC 60332-1 (fire resistance)
- DIN VDE 0482 part 267 / DIN EN 50267-2-1 / IEC 60754-1 (halogen-free)
- IEC 60092-350 (oil resistance)
- IEC 60092-350 (behavior at low temperatures)
- Compliant with Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU (CE)
This ensures that the cable meets the highest standards of safety and quality. The approximate outer diameter of the cable is 18 mm and its weight is about 0.6 kg/m. Remember to choose the appropriate gland for optimal EMC protection – a large round gland with a copper braid is recommended at both ends of the cable.
