Chain guide cable – reliability in harsh conditions
This shielded chain cable HELUKABEL SHIPFLEX 340 is a solution designed for operation in demanding industrial environments, as well as in marine applications. The cable is distinguished by its high resistance to external factors and ensures safe power transmission in dynamic applications. It is ideal where reliability and durability of connections are important, especially in chain guide systems.
Construction and properties
The SHIPFLEX 340 cable is characterized by a solid construction. Made of copper strand, twisted according to DIN VDE 0295 class 6, BS 6360 class 6 and IEC 60228 class 6 standards, it provides flexibility and resistance to repeated bending. The cores are insulated with a special material and colored according to DIN 47100 for easy identification. Twisted core pairs ensure optimal length and minimize interference. In addition, the cable has a screen of tinned copper wires (coverage approx. 85%) and optionally a foil under the braid, which provides effective protection against electromagnetic interference (EMC). The outer sheath made of polyurethane (PUR) guarantees resistance to abrasion, oils and UV radiation.
A key feature is also its halogen-free design (compliant with DIN VDE 0482 part 267 / DIN EN 50267-2-1 / IEC 60754-1), which increases safety in the event of a fire – limiting the emission of toxic gases. The cable is also resistant to low temperatures (down to -40°C) and meets the requirements of standards regarding resistance to radiation and atmospheric conditions.
Applications and benefits
The SHIPFLEX 340 cable is primarily used in:
- Chain guide systems: ideal for powering mobile devices in industrial machines and robots.
- Marine applications: thanks to its high resistance to environmental factors, it works perfectly on ships and drilling platforms.
- Shipbuilding industry: resistance to oils and other chemicals makes it an ideal choice for this sector.
- Industrial automation: reliable power supply for controllers, sensors and other automation devices.
- Where high flexibility is required: thanks to the twisted strand construction, the cable easily adapts to movements and bends.
The cable has a core cross-section of 0.75 mm², contains 36 cores, and its outer diameter is approximately 18 mm. It provides a rated voltage of up to 500 V (UL: 1000 V) and radiation resistance of up to 100x10⁶ cJ/kg (up to 100 Mrad).
