Chain guide cable – reliability in harsh conditions
This shielded chain cable HELUKABEL SHIPFLEX 340 is a solution designed for demanding applications, especially in marine and industrial environments. Designed to operate in chain guides, it provides a reliable connection even with intense bending and movement. Its construction and materials guarantee resistance to external factors such as oils, UV radiation and extreme temperatures.
Construction and properties
The cable is characterized by a solid construction, using stranded copper conductors in accordance with DIN VDE 0295, BS 6360 and IEC 60228 standards. The cores are insulated with a special material and colored according to DIN 47100 for easy identification. Twisted core pairs minimize interference, and an additional braid of tinned copper wires provides effective electromagnetic shielding (EMC). The polyurethane outer jacket (PUR) guarantees high mechanical and chemical resistance.
It is worth paying attention to a few key features:
- Shielding: The braid of copper wires minimizes electromagnetic interference, which is important in applications sensitive to noise.
- Halogen-free: Meets DIN VDE 0482 part 267 / DIN EN 50267-2-1 / IEC 60754-1 standards, which increases fire safety.
- Chemical resistance: Resistant to oils according to IEC 60092-350, Annex F – ideal for use in shipbuilding and offshore platforms.
- Flexibility: Class 6 core provides exceptional flexibility, essential in dynamic applications with chain guides.
- Wide temperature range: Operation in the range of -40°C to +80°C (flexible and stationary) allows it to be used in difficult climatic conditions.
Applications and compliance with standards
The SHIPFLEX 340 cable is intended for use in chain guide systems, especially where high reliability and resistance to external factors are required. It will be perfect in:
- Port and shipbuilding machines
- Industrial robotics
- Automation
- Offshore applications
- Material transport systems
It meets the requirements of DIN VDE 0482-332-1-2 / DIN EN 60332-1-2 / IEC 60332-1 (flame retardancy) standards and has a CE certificate confirming compliance with the Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU. Additionally, it has UV resistance and is compliant with UL Style 20234. For optimal EMC function, it is recommended to use a large round clamp with a copper braid at both ends of the cable.
