Cable for chain guides – reliability in harsh conditions
This shielded HELUKABEL® SHIPFLEX® 340 chain cable is a specialized solution designed for operation in demanding industrial environments, including marine applications. The cable is distinguished by its high resistance to external factors and ensures reliable power transmission in systems with chain guides. The construction with a polyurethane outer jacket guarantees resistance to oils and other aggressive substances, making it an ideal choice for applications where standard cables fail.
Construction and properties
The cable consists of 12 copper conductors with a cross-section of 0.34 mm², which are twisted in pairs for better flexibility and resistance to interference. The conductors are insulated with a material that meets the standards of DIN VDE 0295 class 6, BS 6360 class 6 and IEC 60228 class 6. In addition, the cable has a screen of tinned copper wires (with the option of aluminum and foil), which provides effective protection against electromagnetic interference (EMC). The whole is surrounded by a durable, gray (RAL 7001) polyurethane coating, resistant to abrasion, oils and UV radiation.
The cable is characterized by high flexibility thanks to the use of multi-wire conductors of class 6, which facilitates its installation in dynamic applications. It also meets strict safety standards regarding fire protection (DIN VDE 0482-332-1-2, DIN EN 60332-1-2/ IEC 60332-1) and halogen-free properties (DIN VDE 0482 part 267/ DIN EN 50267-2-1/IEC 60754-1), which minimizes the risk of toxic gases during a fire. The cable retains its properties in a wide temperature range – from -40°C to +80°C (flexibly and stationary) and is resistant to weathering and UV radiation.
Applications and benefits
This cable is primarily used in:
- Chain guide systems in machines and industrial equipment
- Marine applications due to its high resistance to environmental factors
- Installations requiring protection against electromagnetic interference
- Environments exposed to oils and lubricants
- Where high reliability and durability of electrical connections are required
It is worth remembering a few important features:
- Durability: The polyurethane outer jacket provides long-lasting protection against mechanical and chemical damage.
- Safety: Compliance with standards regarding flame retardancy and halogen-free properties increases safety.
- Flexibility: Multi-wire conductors of class 6 facilitate cable routing in dynamic applications.
- EMC protection: Shielding minimizes the impact of electromagnetic interference on transmitted signals.
- Chemical resistance: High resistance to oils and lubricants allows the cable to be used in harsh industrial conditions.
