Cable for potentially explosive atmospheres
This blue OZ-BL cable is a flexible solution for control and measurement installations in areas where there is a risk of explosion. The cable is designed to operate in intrinsically safe systems, ensuring the safe operation of equipment in potentially hazardous environments. This is particularly important in the chemical, petrochemical, mining and other industries where the presence of flammable gases or dusts poses a real threat.
Construction and properties
The cable is characterized by a solid construction, based on 25 copper conductors with a cross-section of 1.5 mm². These conductors are stranded and flexible (class 5), which facilitates installation and ensures resistance to bending. The conductor insulation is made of PVC, and the outer jacket is also made of PVC, guaranteeing durability and protection against external factors. The blue color of the jacket makes it easier to identify the cable in the installation, especially in intrinsically safe systems marked with the -i- type.
Additionally, the cable is resistant to UV radiation and weather conditions, allowing it to be used both indoors and outdoors. The materials used in production do not contain silicone, cadmium or substances that hinder painting. The cable has undergone tests confirming its resistance to flame propagation and the influence of atmospheric factors in accordance with DIN VDE and IEC standards.
Operating parameters and compliance with standards
The OZ-BL cable is designed to operate in temperatures from -40°C to +80°C (stationary) and from -15°C to +80°C (flexible). The rated voltage is 500 V. The minimum bending radius during laying is 4x the cable diameter, and during flexible operation – 7.5x the cable diameter. The cable meets the requirements of DIN VDE 0285-525-2-51 / DIN EN 50525-2-51 and has a CE certificate confirming compliance with the Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU. It is also compliant with DIN VDE 0165-1 / DIN EN 60079-14 / IEC 60079-14 for potentially explosive areas (Section 16.2.2) and has a VDE registration number VDE-Reg.-No. 7032. The outer diameter of the cable is approximately 17.4 mm.
