Compensating leads – precision temperature measurement
The AN 12 l 2x1.5 compensating lead is a reliable solution used in measurement and control systems where accurate temperature readings are critical. It serves as an extension of the thermocouple to the measuring device, ensuring a faithful reproduction of the thermoelectric signal. The lead's construction is designed to minimize the impact on measurements, maintaining stability and accuracy even in harsh conditions.
Construction and materials – tailored to your needs
The AN 12 l 2x1.5 lead features a carefully designed construction using high-quality materials. The conductors are made of a special material (stranded or solid wire) and are available in various material combinations: Fe/Cu-Ni, Ni/Cr-Ni or Pt-Rh/Pt. The insulation can be made of PVC, silicone, fluoropolymer or fiberglass – the choice depends on the specific requirements of the application and the operating temperature range. Additionally, the lead has a braided screen made of tinned steel wires (type SY) or copper (type CY), which provides protection against electromagnetic interference and increases signal stability. Conductor marking is single-color, and pairs of conductors from 3 pieces are additionally marked with printed numbers for easy identification.
Application and properties – reliable operation
Compensating leads are widely used in industry, research laboratories and anywhere precise temperature measurements are required. By maintaining the same thermoelectric properties as the thermocouple (according to DIN 43710), the compensating lead enables accurate temperature readings even at connection head temperatures of up to +200°C. The resistance values of the leads are determined in accordance with DIN 43713: Fe: 0.080 Ohm/m; CuNi: 0.327 Ohm/m; NiCr: 0.07 Ohm/m; Ni: 0.3 Ohm/m; PtRh: 0.023 Ohm/m; Pt: 0.041 Ohm/m. The test voltage for leads with PVC, fluoropolymer and silicone insulation is conductor/conductor and conductor/screen - 500 V and screen/screen - 500 V. For leads with fiberglass insulation, the conductor/conductor test voltage is also 500 V. The insulation resistance for PVC, silicone and fluoropolymer is min. 10 MOhm x km. The inductance of the lead does not exceed 1 mH/km.
