Compensating leads – precision temperature measurement
The AN 9-4 L 4x1.5 compensating lead is an indispensable element in measurement and control systems where accurate temperature readings are crucial. It serves as an extension of the thermocouple, providing a reliable connection to the measuring device. The cable's construction is designed to minimize errors resulting from temperature differences between the measurement point and the reading device.
Construction and materials – tailored to your needs
The AN 9-4 L 4x1.5 lead is characterized by conductors made of special materials – stranded or solid wire – insulated with a material chosen by the customer: PVC, silicone, Teflon or fiberglass. This allows the cable to be adapted to specific working conditions and the type of thermocouple. Conductor marking is single-color, and pairs of conductors (from 3 conductors) are additionally marked with numbers for easy identification. A braided screen made of tinned steel wires (SY type) or a copper braid (CY type) provides protection against electromagnetic interference.
It is worth knowing that compensating leads can be made of original materials (identical to the thermocouple) or substitute materials – we offer them to special order. The choice of the appropriate material affects the measurement accuracy and the cost of the solution. For applications requiring the highest precision, leads made of thermocouples built from the same material as the temperature sensor are recommended.
Parameters and application – reliable operation
The AN 9-4 L 4x1.5 lead is designed to operate in temperatures from -25°C to +70°C (stationary operating temperature) and from -5°C to +70°C (flexible operating temperature). The test voltage for cables with PVC, fluoropolymer and silicone insulation is 500V (conductor/conductor, conductor/screen, screen/screen), and for fiberglass insulation – also 500V (conductor/conductor). The insulation resistance for PVC, silicone and fluoropolymer is at least 10 MOhm x km. The cable meets the IEC 60332-1-2 standard regarding fire behavior. The resistance of the wires according to DIN 43713 is: Fe: 0.080 Ohm/m; CuNi: 0.327 Ohm/m; NiCr: 0.07 Ohm/m; Ni: 0.3 Ohm/m; PtRh: 0.023 Ohm/m; Pt: 0.041 Ohm/m. The weight of one meter of cable is 0.125 kg.
