Extreme duty cable for harsh environments – HELUFLON-FEP-6Y
This multi-core 600 V cable from HELUKABEL is a solution for demanding applications where standard cabling fails. The cable is characterized by exceptional resistance to temperature, chemicals and radiation, making it an ideal choice for harsh industrial environments. The FEP (fluoropolymer) insulation construction ensures reliable operation in the temperature range of -100°C to +205°C (short-term up to +230°C), which is particularly important in heating applications or in the chemical industry.
Construction and properties
The HELUFLON-FEP-6Y cable consists of five copper conductors, silver-plated or tinned (depending on the specification), twisted according to DIN VDE 0295, BS 6360 and IEC 60228 standards. Each conductor is insulated with high-quality FEP-HELUFLON® material, providing excellent dielectric properties and chemical resistance. The conductors are twisted in parallel and surrounded by an outer jacket of FEP-HELUFLON® in black color (RAL 9005). This construction guarantees flexibility, durability and safety of use. In addition, the cable is available with a yellow-green protective conductor (marked "G") or without it (marked "x").
Applications and benefits
This cable is widely used in installations and construction of switchgear cabinets, especially where extreme temperature conditions prevail. It will work in furnaces, brickworks, heating and kitchen appliances, and measuring devices. Its chemical resistance makes it indispensable in the chemical industry – it is resistant to flames, alkalis, acids, food, oils and gasoline. Thanks to compliance with the Low Voltage Directive CE (2014/35/EU), the cable guarantees safe use.
- Wide operating temperature range: from -100°C to +205°C (short-term up to +230°C) – ideal for use in extreme thermal conditions.
- Exceptional chemical resistance: safe operation in an environment of aggressive chemicals.
- High radiation resistance: enables use in installations exposed to radiation.
- Low dielectric losses: ensures efficient energy transmission.
- Self-extinguishing and flame-retardant: increases safety of use in accordance with DIN VDE 0482-332-1-2, DIN EN 60332-1-2 and IEC 60332-1 standards.
- Minimal water absorption: guarantees stable operating parameters even in a humid environment.
- Silicone and cadmium free: environmentally friendly and safe for health.
The conductor cross-section is 2.5 mm², and the approximate outer diameter is 7.9 mm. The cable meets the requirements of IEC 60332-1 standards and has a CE certificate confirming compliance with the Low Voltage Directive.
