Flexible control and measuring cable for potentially explosive atmospheres

This blue, shielded flexible cable OZ-BL-CY with a voltage of 500V is designed for use in areas at risk of explosion, where high flexibility and resistance to interference are required. The cable construction, with a shielding braid and PVC insulation, ensures safe and reliable operation in harsh industrial conditions. This cable is ideal for control and measurement installations in control and measurement technology, especially where maintaining signal integrity is essential.

Construction and properties

The cable is distinguished by a careful construction, designed for demanding applications. Flexible, stranded copper conductors, class 5 (according to DIN VDE 0295 / IEC 60228), provide good conductivity and resistance to material fatigue during repeated bending. The core insulation made of PVC type Z 7225 guarantees good electrical insulation. The cores are twisted in layers, which minimizes electromagnetic interference. In addition, a foil wrap and a braid of tinned copper wires (with a coverage density of approx. 85%) effectively shield the cable against the influence of external electromagnetic fields. The outer sheath made of PVC (DIN VDE 0207-363-4-1 / DIN EN 50363-4-1 type TM2) in blue color (RAL 5015) provides mechanical protection and resistance to weather conditions and UV radiation.

The cable is characterized by a wide range of operating temperatures – from -40°C to +80°C (stationary) and from -10°C to +80°C (flexible). The rated voltage U/U0 is 500/300V, and the core/core test voltage is 3000V. The minimum bending radius is 10x cable diameter for flexible operation and 5x cable diameter for fixed installation. The mutual capacitance core/core is approximately 140 pF/m at a frequency of 800 Hz, and core/screen approximately 187 pF/m. The inductance is approximately 0.68 mH/km, and the coupling resistance at 30 MHz is approximately 250 Ohm/km.

Applications and compliance with standards

This cable is used in outdoor installations and in areas at risk of explosion (according to DIN VDE 0165-1 / DIN EN 60079-14 / IEC 60079-14 Section 16.2.2). It is intended for intrinsically safe systems of type -i-. The material used in production does not contain silicone, cadmium or substances preventing paint adhesion during painting. The cable meets the requirements of the Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU (CE marking) and has VDE-Reg.-No. 7032 certificate. The fire reaction class according to EN 13501-6 is Eca.
