High-temperature silicone cable – reliability in extreme conditions
This six-core HELUTHERM SiHF cable is a flexible solution for applications requiring resistance to extreme temperatures. The cable is designed for installations in harsh industrial environments where standard cabling fails. Thanks to silicone insulation, it ensures reliable operation over a wide temperature range, from -60°C to +180°C (short-term up to +220°C).
Construction and properties
The cable is characterized by a solid construction, ensuring long-lasting and safe operation. It is made of multi-strand, twisted tinned copper conductors class 5 (according to PN-EN 60228), covered with silicone rubber insulation. The cores are colored according to DIN VDE 0293-308 – up to 5 cores colors according to the standard, above 5 cores black with white numbering. The cable has a yellow-green protective core (from 3 cores). The outer jacket is made of special silicone rubber in brick red color. This makes the cable not only durable but also easy to identify in the installation.
The HELUTHERM SiHF cable is halogen-free, which increases safety in the event of a fire and minimizes the emission of toxic substances. It also has high chemical resistance to oils, vegetable and animal fats, alcohols, acids, alkalis and atmospheric conditions. It is also resistant to radiation up to 20 x 10⁶ cJ/kg (up to 20 Mrad).
Applications and operating parameters
This cable is used in industrial installations requiring high thermal resistance and flexibility. It is ideal for:
- Power plants
- Steelworks and foundries
- Shipbuilding industry
- Cement plants
- Other demanding industrial environments
The rated voltage is 500 V, and the rated core cross-section is 2.5 mm². The cable has an approximate outer diameter of 12.6 mm and an allowable ambient temperature during installation/operation from -60°C to +180°C (short-term up to +220°C). The insulation resistance is min. 200 MOhm x km, the test voltage is 2000 V, and the breakdown voltage is min. 5000 V.
The cable meets the requirements of DIN VDE 0250 part 1 and DIN VDE 0285-525-2-83 / DIN EN 50525-2-83 and has a CE certificate confirming compliance with the low-voltage directive 2014/35/EU. The minimum bending radius is 7.5 x cable diameter for flexible bending and 4 x cable diameter for stationary bending.
