High-temperature silicone cable – reliability in extreme conditions

This multi-core HELUTHERM SiHF cable, with insulation made of special silicone, is designed to operate in demanding thermal conditions. It is characterized by high resistance to extreme temperatures, both low and high, making it an ideal choice for industrial and specialized applications. This cable complies with DIN VDE 0250 part 1 and DIN VDE 0285-525-2-83 / DIN EN 50525-2-83 standards, guaranteeing safety and reliability.

Construction and properties

The cable consists of multi-wire copper conductors, twisted together, insulated with high-quality silicone rubber. The conductors are available in colors according to DIN VDE 0293-308 (up to 5 cores) or black with white numbering (above 5 cores), and from 3 cores includes a green-yellow protective conductor. The whole is surrounded by a special outer coating of silicone rubber in brick red color. This construction provides flexibility and resistance to mechanical damage, although it should be noted that the mechanical strength is limited compared to traditional cables.

This cable is also distinguished by the absence of halogens in its composition, which increases safety in the event of a fire – during combustion, SiO₂ insulation remains. Additionally, it is resistant to the action of many oils, vegetable and animal fats, alcohols, acids, alkalis and atmospheric conditions.

Applications and parameters

The HELUTHERM SiHF cable finds application in a wide range of industries, such as power plants, steelworks, foundries, shipbuilding and cement plants. It is particularly recommended where extreme temperatures occur or high chemical resistance is required. Thanks to the permissible operating temperature from -60°C to +180°C (short-term up to +220°C) and rated voltage of 500V, this cable ensures safe and reliable operation even in the most difficult conditions. The conductor cross-section is 1 mm², and its approximate outer diameter is 11.5 mm. It is worth noting the minimum bending radius of 7.5 x cable diameter for mobile installations and 4 x cable diameter for fixed installations.
