Hybrid cable – combination of thermoelectricity and control

This cable combines thermoelectric and control functions, making it an ideal solution for applications requiring both temperature measurement and power supply. The cable construction is based on a combination of type J thermoelectric wires and control wires, providing a comprehensive solution in one cable.

Construction and properties

The cable consists of two main parts: thermoelectric and control. The thermoelectric part uses stranded wires of class 1, insulated with heat-resistant PVC TI3, ensuring reliable temperature measurement over a wide range – from -30°C to +105°C. These wires are twisted in pairs with an optimal pitch and protected with a screen of tinned copper wires. The control part uses flexible, stranded copper wires of class 5, insulated with PVC TI1, designed to operate at temperatures from -25°C to +70°C. Filling compounds between the wires provide additional stability and resistance to mechanical damage. The whole is surrounded by a PVC TM2 coating, which protects the cable from external factors.

It is worth paying attention to a few key features:

• Chemical resistance: The cable exhibits good resistance to oils and gasoline, increasing its durability in harsh working conditions.
• Material compatibility: The thermoelectric part is made of the same materials as standard thermocouples, guaranteeing measurement accuracy and minimizing the risk of errors resulting from material differences.
• No harmful substances: The materials used in production do not contain silicone, cadmium or substances hindering paint adhesion – this is important for both safety and painting processes near the installation.
• Rated voltage: The cable is designed to operate at 300/500V, and the dielectric strength is confirmed by a 2500V voltage test.

Applications

These cables are widely used in measurement and control systems, especially where simultaneous transmission of temperature measurement signals and power supply is required. They are perfect in hot runner systems for injection molds – the control part powers electric heaters, and the thermoelectric part precisely reads the channel temperature. They can also be used in other industrial applications, laboratories and anywhere where a reliable connection of measurement signals with power supply is needed. The outer diameter of the cable is 11.3 mm with a weight of 0.3398 kg/m.
