Flexible cable for EX zones – reliability and safety in harsh conditions

This blue, shielded flexible cable OZ-BL-CY 34x0.75 is designed for use in potentially explosive atmospheres, where high reliability and safety are required. The cable, made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), is characterized by its flexibility and resistance to external factors. It is an ideal solution for both professional installers and end-users looking for proven components for control and measurement systems.

Construction and properties

The cable consists of 34 stranded, flexible copper conductors class 5, insulated with PVC type Z 7225. The conductors are twisted in layers with an optimal pitch, which ensures flexibility and facilitates installation. In addition, the cable has a screen in the form of a braid of tinned copper wires with a coverage density of approximately 85%, which minimizes electromagnetic interference. The outer jacket made of PVC (type TM2) provides protection against mechanical damage and weathering. The outer diameter of the cable is approximately 17.8 mm, and its weight is 0.5502 kg/m.

Application and compliance with standards

The OZ-BL-CY cable is intended for intrinsically safe installations in accordance with DIN VDE 0285-525-2-51 / DIN EN 50525-2-51 in areas subject to explosion hazard (according to DIN VDE 0165-1 / DIN EN 60079-14 / IEC 60079-14). It is perfect as a control and measuring cable in control and measurement technology, especially in ungrounded systems with a separate electrical circuit. It is not intended for laying in the ground. It meets the requirements of the Eca standard regarding reaction to fire (EN 13501-6). It has a VDE-Reg.-No. 7032 certificate and a CE mark confirming compliance with the Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU.
