Flat cable – reliable power supply in harsh conditions

This flat PVC cable with 12 cores of 2.5 mm² cross-section is a versatile solution for applications where flexibility and resistance to mechanical damage are important. Ideal for both permanent installations and where the cable is exposed to frequent bending and movement. Made of high-quality materials, it provides safe and long-lasting power in demanding industrial and other environments.

Construction and properties

The cable is designed for durability and ease of installation. Copper cores, twisted according to DIN VDE 0295, BS 6360 and IEC 60228 standards, ensure good electrical conductivity. PVC TI2 insulation protects against short circuits and damage, and colored cores (up to 5 cores colored, above 7 cores black with white numbering) make identification easier during installation. A yellow-green protective core increases safety. The flat construction makes it easier to route cables in tight spaces and allows for aesthetic arrangement in conveyor systems or elevators. The outer jacket made of PVC TM2 provides additional protection against external factors.

The cable is characterized by high flexibility in the temperature range from -5°C to +70°C (flexible) and from -40°C to +80°C (stationary). It is resistant to radiation up to 80 x 10⁶ cJ/kg (80 Mrad) and exhibits good chemical resistance – detailed information can be found in the chemical resistance table (available separately). The minimum bending radius is approximately 10 times the cable thickness, allowing for easy adaptation to the specifics of the installation. The cable meets the requirements of the Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU (CE marking).

It is worth remembering a few tips during installation: cable reels should be equipped with a collar and transported in an upright position. When unwinding the cable, start with the smaller cross-section, laying it on the surface and gradually adding layers with a larger cross-section – this ensures even load distribution and minimizes the risk of damage. For cables with a cross-section less than 2.5 mm², an additional safety margin (10%) should be taken into account when calculating the load capacity.
