Data transmission cable RD-Y(St)Y – reliability and signal protection

This blue PVC cable, with a cross-section of 0.5 mm² and a construction of 16x2x0.5 mm², is designed for efficient data transmission in various applications. The RD-Y(St)Y cable features aluminum foil shielding, which minimizes electromagnetic interference and ensures a stable signal. The twisted pair construction of the cores, with a short twist pitch, guarantees good attenuation parameters, which is crucial in measurement, control and regulation systems.

This cable is widely used in measurement, control and regulation technology, as well as in dispatch stations, power plants and industry. It is particularly recommended for transmitting both analog and digital signals with frequencies from approximately 10 kHz. Thanks to its flexibility and ease of installation, it works perfectly with the Maxi-Termi-Point* connection technique.

Construction and properties

The RD-Y(St)Y cable is characterized by a solid construction ensuring long-lasting and reliable operation. 32 copper, stranded cores of class 2 are insulated with PVC (Semi-Rigid-PVC), and then twisted in pairs with a difference in twist length for the pair and bundle – this solution optimizes the attenuation parameters. Four twisted pairs are bundled together, which are concentrically arranged around the 0.5 mm² drain wire. The whole is surrounded by an electrostatic shield made of aluminum foil coated with plastic and an outer PVC coating in blue (RAL 5015).

The operating voltage is a maximum of 600V (not intended for high-current installations), and the core/core and core/screen test voltage is 2000 V. The insulation resistance is at least 100 MOhm x km (core/core and core/screen).
