High-temperature silicone cable – reliability in extreme conditions
This multi-core cable with silicone insulation is designed for operation in demanding environments where standard cabling fails. Compliant with DIN VDE 0250 part 1 and DIN VDE 0285-525-2-83 / DIN EN 50525-2-83, it offers exceptional resistance to extreme temperatures and aggressive chemicals. The HELUTHERM SiHF 18G0,5 mm² cable is the ideal solution where reliability and safety are paramount.
Construction and properties
The cable features a flexible construction based on twisted, multi-strand tinned copper conductors, class 5. Each conductor is insulated with special silicone, providing resistance to high temperatures – up to +180°C in continuous operation and briefly up to +220°C. Additionally, the cable remains flexible even at low temperatures, down to -60°C. The outer jacket made of silicone in brick red provides additional protection and identification. The cable is available in a version with 18 cores with a cross-section of 0.5 mm², and core identification is carried out in accordance with DIN VDE 0293-308 – colors for conductors up to 5 cores and black color with white numbering for more than 5 cores.
Applications and benefits
This cable finds application in a wide range of industries where extreme working conditions prevail:
- Metallurgical and foundry industry: Resistance to high temperatures and aggressive media.
- Glass and ceramics industry: Resistance to high temperatures and dust.
- Cement plants: Resistance to abrasion and chemical substances.
- Aerospace industry: Lightweight construction and resistance to extreme weather conditions.
- Power plants: Safety and reliability in critical installations.
- Heating installations: Resistance to high temperatures without loss of insulating properties.
Thanks to its properties, the HELUTHERM SiHF cable provides:
- Safety: Silicone insulation is halogen-free, minimizing the risk of toxic gas formation in the event of a fire (according to VDE 0482 part 267 / DIN EN 50267-2-2 / IEC 60754-2).
- Durability: Resistance to UV radiation and oils, vegetable and animal fats, alcohols, acids and alkalis ensures long-term operation even in difficult conditions.
- Flexibility: Allows easy installation and routing of cables even in tight spaces.
- Reliability: Provides stable electrical connections even with large temperature fluctuations.
- Wide temperature range: from -60°C to +180°C (briefly up to +220°C) allows it to be used in the most demanding applications.
This cable is ideal for both professional installers looking for a reliable solution for demanding applications and end users who value safety and durability of electrical installations. The rated voltage Uo/U is 300/500V and the maximum conductor resistance at 20°C is 40.1 Ω/km for a cross-section of 0.5 mm². The minimum insulation resistance is 20 MΩ·km.
