High-temperature silicone cable – reliability in extreme conditions
This 20-core HELUTHERM SiHF cable, made of silicone, is designed for use in demanding industrial environments and applications where standard cables fail. It is characterized by exceptional resistance to high and low temperatures, making it an ideal choice where traditional cabling does not meet expectations. The cable complies with DIN VDE 0250 part 1 and DIN VDE 0285-525-2-83 / DIN EN 50525-2-83 standards, guaranteeing its safety and quality.
Construction and properties
The HELUTHERM SiHF cable is distinguished by its flexible construction with a multi-strand copper core (class 5 according to DIN VDE 0295) and silicone insulation. The cores are colored according to DIN VDE 0293-308 for easy identification (colored up to 5 cores, from 6 cores black with white numbering). Additionally, the cable has a yellow-green protective core (from 3 cores). The outer jacket made of silicone provides additional protection and resistance to external factors. The cable is metered for convenient dispensing of the required length.
Thanks to the materials used, the cable remains flexible even at extreme temperatures – from -60°C to +180°C (short-term up to +220°C). It is also resistant to oils, greases, alcohols, acids, alkalis and UV radiation. Importantly – it is halogen-free, which increases safety in the event of a fire. In the event of ignition, the insulation remains with SiO₂, minimizing the emission of toxic gases.
Applications and benefits
The HELUTHERM SiHF cable finds wide application in industries requiring high reliability and resistance to extreme conditions:
- Power plants: Due to thermal and electrical resistance.
- Steelworks and foundries: In places exposed to high temperatures and an aggressive environment.
- Shipbuilding industry: Resistance to moisture and corrosion.
- Cement plants: Resistance to dust and high temperatures.
- Chemical industry: Resistance to chemicals.
- Applications requiring flexibility: Ideal for connecting moving parts of machines and devices.
It is worth remembering the limited mechanical strength of these types of cables – they are primarily flexible connection cables, not cables designed for high mechanical loads. During installation, avoid sharp bends (minimum bending radius: flexible 7.5 x cable Ø, stationary 4 x cable Ø). When installing in unventilated areas at temperatures above 90°C, consider the potential reduction in the mechanical properties of silicone.
