High-temperature silicone cable – reliability in extreme conditions
This 7-core HELUTHERM SiHF cable with a cross-section of 6 mm² is the ideal solution where standard cabling fails. Designed to operate in an extended temperature range, from -60°C to +180°C (short-term up to +220°C), it ensures continuity and safety in demanding industrial applications. Core identification according to DIN VDE 0293-308 simplifies installation and servicing.
Construction and application
The cable is made of stranded copper cores, twisted according to DIN VDE 0295 class 5, surrounded by high-quality silicone insulation. The cores are colored according to DIN VDE 0293-308 (colored up to 5 cores, above 5 – black with white numbering) and also contains a yellow-green protective core (from 3 cores). The whole is protected by an external silicone jacket in brick red color, providing resistance to external factors. This cable is used in places exposed to extreme temperatures, such as power plants, foundries, cement plants, shipbuilding industry, and everywhere where high flexibility and reliability of connections are required.
Key features and benefits
- Exceptional thermal resistance: Operation in a temperature range from -60°C to +180°C (short-term up to +220°C) guarantees reliable operation even in the most demanding conditions.
- Flexibility and suppleness: Construction with class 5 multi-strand cores ensures easy installation and routing of cables, even in tight spaces.
- Chemical resistance: The cable is resistant to oils, vegetable and animal fats, alcohols, acids, alkalis and oxidizing agents – which increases its durability and reliability in harsh environments.
- Halogen-free: Compliance with VDE 0482 part 267 / DIN EN 50267-2-2 / IEC 60754-2 standards ensures fire safety and minimizes the emission of toxic gases in the event of a fire.
- High-quality insulation: Silicone insulation leaves SiO₂ behind in the event of a fire, which further increases the safety of the installation.
- Compliance with standards: Meets the requirements of DIN VDE 0250 part 1 and DIN VDE 0285-525-2-83 / DIN EN 50525-2-83, which confirms its high quality and safety of use.
- Radiation resistance: The cable retains its properties under the influence of radiation up to 20 x 10⁶ cJ/kg (up to 20 Mrad).
Operating parameters
The cable is characterized by a rated voltage U/U₀ of 300/500 V and a test voltage of 2000 V. Insulation resistance is at least 200 MOhm x km and breakdown voltage is at least 5000V. The cable load capacity depends on the ambient temperature and can be adapted to specific working conditions (see load capacity table in technical data). The minimum bending radius for flexible laying is 7.5 x cable diameter and for stationary laying – 4 x cable diameter. The approximate outer diameter of the cable is about 18 mm.
