Silicone cable for extreme conditions
This multi-core silicone cable is designed for operation in demanding environments where standard cabling fails. It is characterized by exceptional resistance to high and low temperatures, making it an ideal solution for a wide range of industrial and specialized applications. The cable meets UL Style 4476 and CSA AWM II A/B standards, guaranteeing safety and reliability.
Construction and properties
The cable is made of tinned copper conductors (class 5 or 6 depending on the specification), insulated with silicone. The conductors are longitudinally twisted, and their identification is done using colors according to DIN VDE 0293-308 – black or colored with white numbering. The protective conductor (green-yellow) is available from the 3-core version upwards. The whole is surrounded by a black silicone coating, providing additional mechanical and chemical protection.
It is worth noting the wide range of permissible operating temperatures: from -60°C to +180°C (short-term up to +220°C) and -50°C to +150°C (UL/CSA). Thanks to this, the cable retains its flexible properties even in extreme conditions. In addition, the materials used in production are resistant to many chemical substances, including oils, greases, alcohols, acids and bases. The cable is also halogen-free, which increases safety in the event of a fire – during combustion, a SiO2 coating is formed instead of toxic gases.
Applications and benefits
This cable finds application in many branches of industry: power plants, metallurgy, aerospace, shipbuilding, ceramics, glass and cement plants. It is ideal as a flexible connection cable in places exposed to high temperatures or requiring high flexibility.
- Extreme temperatures: Trouble-free operation in the range of -60°C to +180°C (short-term +220°C).
- Chemical resistance: Resistance to the action of oils, greases, acids and other aggressive substances.
- Safety: Halogen-free construction minimizes the risk of toxic gas formation during a fire.
- Flexibility: Allows easy routing of cables even in tight spaces.
- Compliance with standards: Meets the requirements of UL Style 4476 and CSA AWM II A/B and DIN VDE 0293-308.
- Durability: High mechanical and dielectric strength guarantee long service life.
The conductor cross-section is 1.5 mm², and the approximate outer diameter is 12.4 mm. The rated voltage U is 500 V (VDE) or 600 V (UL/CSA). The minimum bending radius is 7.5x cable diameter for flexible bending and 4x for stationary bending.
