Silicone cable for extreme conditions
This multi-core silicone cable is designed to operate in demanding environments where standard cabling fails. It is characterized by high temperature resistance and flexibility, making it an ideal choice for both professional installers and end-users who need a reliable solution. The cable meets UL Style 4476 and CSA AWM II A/B standards, guaranteeing safety and performance.
Construction and properties
The cable is made of tinned copper conductors (class 5 or 6 according to DIN VDE 0295, BS 6360, IEC 60228), which ensures good conductivity and corrosion resistance. The core insulation is made of silicone, and the outer jacket is also made of silicone, providing exceptional thermal and chemical resistance. The cores are longitudinally twisted for increased flexibility. Core marking is done according to DIN VDE 0293-308 – black cores with white numbering or colored cores. In multi-core versions, a yellow-green protective core is also available. The outer diameter of the cable is approximately 16.1 mm with a cross-section of 1.5 mm².
Applications and benefits
This cable finds wide application in various industries where extreme temperatures occur or high connection flexibility is required:
- Power plants: Due to the absence of halogens and high thermal resistance, it is ideal for use in environments with increased fire risk.
- Steel, aerospace, and shipbuilding industries: Resistance to harsh environmental and mechanical conditions.
- Ceramics, glass, and cement plants: Resistance to high temperatures and aggressive chemicals.
- Flexible connections: High flexibility facilitates installation and connection in tight spaces.
- General applications: Where high operating temperature (up to +180°C continuously, briefly up to +220°C) and resistance to low temperatures (down to -60°C) are required.
Additional advantages:
- Chemical resistance: The cable is resistant to oils, greases, alcohols, dilute acids and alkalis, and many other chemicals.
- Halogen-free: Compliant with DIN VDE 0482 part 267/DIN EN 50267-2-1/IEC 60754-1 standards, which minimizes the risk of toxic gas formation in the event of a fire.
- Flame retardant: Meets DIN VDE 0482-332-1-2 / DIN EN 60332-1-2 / IEC 60332-1 and CSA FT1 standards.
- Good dielectric properties: Ensure safe and reliable operation of the electrical installation.
- Radiation resistance: Up to 20x10⁶ cJ/kg (up to 20 Mrad).
