Silicone cable for extreme conditions
This multi-core silicone cable is designed to operate in demanding environments where standard cabling fails. It is characterized by exceptional resistance to high and low temperatures, making it an ideal solution in industry, energy, and anywhere requiring reliability and safety. The cable meets UL Style 4476 and CSA AWM II A/B standards, guaranteeing high quality and compliance with international standards.
Construction and properties
The cable is made of tinned copper conductors (class 5 or 6 according to DIN VDE 0295, BS 6360, IEC 60228), insulated with silicone. The conductors are longitudinally twisted, and in multi-core versions, a green-yellow protective conductor is present. The outer jacket is also made of silicone, providing additional protection against external factors. Conductor marking is carried out according to DIN VDE 0293-308 – black conductors with white numbering or brown and blue in the two-core version. Thanks to the use of silicone as the insulation and jacket material, the cable remains flexible even at extreme temperatures.
Applications and benefits
This cable finds application in a wide range of industries: power plants, steel industry, aerospace, shipbuilding, metallurgy (ceramics, glass, cement plants) and anywhere requiring high thermal and mechanical resistance. Its flexibility makes it ideal as a connection cable. Additionally:
- Wide temperature range: The cable retains its properties in the range of -60°C to +180°C (short-term up to +220°C), allowing its use in extreme conditions.
- Chemical resistance: Exhibits resistance to mineral oils, vegetable and animal fats, alcohols, plasticizers, and many acids and bases.
- Halogen-free: Compliant with DIN VDE 0482 part 267/DIN EN 50267-2-1/IEC 60754-1 standards – does not contain halogens, increasing fire safety.
- Low flammability: Meets the requirements of DIN VDE 0482-332-1-2, DIN EN 60332-1-2 and IEC 60332-1 (equivalent to DIN VDE 0472 part 804 test method B) and CSA FT1 – does not spread flames.
- High insulation: Provides a minimum insulation resistance of 200 MOhm x km and a breakdown voltage of min. 5000 V.
- UV radiation: Resistant to radiation up to 20x10^6 cJ/kg (up to 20 Mrad).
The cable with a cross-section of 1.5 mm² and an outer diameter of approximately 21.8 mm is designed to operate at a rated voltage of up to 500 V (VDE) or 600 V (UL/CSA). Remember to maintain a minimum bending radius of 7.5x the cable diameter for flexible bending and 4x the cable diameter for stationary bending.
