Silicone cable, resistant to high temperatures acc. to UL/CSA SiHF UL/CSA 2x35mm² black, conductor identification acc. to DIN VDE 0293-308 23288

Silicone cable for extreme conditions

This two-core silicone cable, with a cross-section of 35 mm², is designed to operate in demanding environments where standard cabling fails. It is characterized by exceptional resistance to high and low temperatures, making it an ideal choice for industrial and specialized applications. The cable meets UL/CSA standards, guaranteeing safety and reliability.

Construction and properties

The cable is made of tinned copper conductors (class 5 according to DIN VDE 0295, BS 6360 cl.5 and IEC 60228), providing flexibility and good conductivity. The core insulation and outer jacket are made of silicone, ensuring temperature resistance in the range of -60°C to +180°C (short-term up to +220°C). Additionally, the material is halogen-free, which increases safety in case of fire – during combustion it leaves only a layer of SiO2. The cores are longitudinally twisted and marked according to DIN VDE 0293-308 (cores black or colored with white numbering; in the two-core version brown and blue). The outer diameter of the cable is approximately 28.7 mm.

Applications and benefits

This cable finds wide application in industries where extreme thermal conditions prevail:

  • Power plants: Due to its resistance to high temperatures and halogen-free properties.
  • Steel, aerospace and shipbuilding industries: Where flexibility and reliability are required in difficult conditions.
  • Ceramics, glass and cement plants: Resistance to high temperatures and aggressive environments.
  • Flexible connections: The high flexibility of the silicone insulation makes the cable ideal as a flexible connecting cable.
  • Chemical resistance: The cable is resistant to mineral oils, vegetable and animal fats, alcohols, diluted acids and alkalis, and many other chemicals.

Additional advantages include radiation resistance and compliance with DIN VDE 0482 part 267/DIN EN 50267-2-1/IEC 60754-1 (halogen-free) and DIN VDE 0482-332-1-2/DIN EN 60332-1-2/IEC 60332-1 (flame retardancy) standards. It should be remembered that the cable should be laid permanently only in open or ventilated cable ducts – otherwise the mechanical properties of the silicone may decrease at temperatures above 90°C.
