Silicone cable for extreme conditions
This 3-core silicone cable is designed for applications requiring high temperature resistance and flexibility. It meets UL/CSA standards, guaranteeing its reliability and safety in various industrial applications. This cable is ideal for where standard cabling fails – in environments with extreme temperatures, exposed to oils, chemicals or radiation.
Construction and properties
The cable is characterized by a construction ensuring long-term and safe operation. Tinned copper strands, made in accordance with DIN VDE 0295, BS 6360, IEC 60228, class 5 (flexible stranded), guarantee good conductivity and flexibility. Silicone insulation provides resistance to high temperatures – up to +180°C in continuous operation and up to +220°C for short periods – and maintains properties at low temperatures (down to -60°C). Additionally, the cable is resistant to many chemical substances, oils, greases and weather conditions. Core marking according to DIN VDE 0293-308 (colored or with white numbering) facilitates identification during installation. The green-yellow protective conductor is present in 3-core and more versions.
Applications and benefits
Silicone cable finds wide application in many industries:
- Power plants: Due to the absence of halogens and high thermal resistance.
- Steel, aerospace and shipbuilding industries: In places exposed to high temperatures and difficult operating conditions.
- Ceramics, glass and cement plants: Where extreme temperatures and dust occur.
- Flexible connections: Thanks to the high flexibility of the silicone insulation.
- Applications requiring chemical resistance: In environments exposed to oils, chemicals and other aggressive substances.
Additional advantages:
- Halogen-free: Compliant with DIN VDE 0482 part 267/DIN EN 50267-2-1/IEC 60754-1 and DIN VDE 0472 part 815. Increases fire safety.
- Does not spread flames: Meets the requirements of DIN VDE 0482-332-1-2, DIN EN 60332-1-2, IEC 60332-1 and CSA FT1.
- Good dielectric properties: Ensure reliable operation of the electrical installation.
- Radiation resistance: Up to 20x10⁶ cJ/kg (up to 20 Mrad).
- Compliant with the Low Voltage Directive: Product compliant with the Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU.
The cable with a core cross-section of 2.5 mm² has an approximate outer diameter of 10.4 mm and is intended for operation at a rated voltage of up to 500 V (VDE) or 600 V (UL/CSA). The minimum bending radius is 7.5x the cable diameter for flexible bending and 4x the cable diameter for stationary bending.
