Silicone cable for extreme conditions
This 3-core silicone cable, with a cross-section of 4 mm², is designed for applications requiring high thermal resistance and flexibility. It meets UL/CSA standards, guaranteeing its reliability and safety in various industrial and specialized applications. The cable stands out for its resistance to extreme temperatures, from -60°C to +180°C (short-term up to +220°C), making it an ideal choice where standard cables fail.
Construction and properties
The cable is characterized by a solid construction with tinned copper cores (class 5 according to DIN VDE 0295, BS 6360 cl.5 and IEC 60228), insulated with silicone. The cores are longitudinally twisted, and a protective core (yellow-green) is present from 3 cores upwards. The outer jacket made of silicone provides additional protection against external factors and chemical resistance to oils, greases, acids, alkalis and UV radiation. Core identification is carried out in accordance with DIN VDE 0293-308 – black cores with white numbering or brown and blue in the two-core version. The outer diameter of the cable is approximately 11.8 mm.
Applications and benefits
This cable finds wide application in demanding industrial environments, such as power plants, metallurgy, aerospace, shipbuilding, and the production of ceramics, glass and cement. Thanks to its high flexibility, it works perfectly as a connecting cable in places exposed to movement or vibration. Additionally:
- Halogen-free: Compliance with DIN VDE 0482 part 267/DIN EN 50267-2-1/IEC 60754-1 ensures safe use and minimizes the emission of toxic substances in the event of a fire.
- Flame retardant: Meets the requirements of DIN VDE 0482-332-1-2, DIN EN 60332-1-2 and IEC 60332-1 (equivalent to DIN VDE 0472 part 804 test method B) and CSA FT1.
- Good dielectric properties: Ensure reliable operation even at high temperatures.
- Chemical resistance: Enables use in aggressive industrial environments.
- Wide operating temperature range: Guarantees functionality in both low (-60°C) and high temperatures (+180°C).
- Rated voltage: The cable is designed to operate at voltages up to 500V (VDE) or 600V (UL/CSA).
The HELUTHERM SiHF-UL/CSA cable is a guarantee of reliability and safety in demanding electrical applications.
