Silicone cable for extreme conditions
This black, multi-strand silicone cable is designed to operate in demanding environments where standard cabling fails. It is characterized by exceptional resistance to high and low temperatures, making it an ideal choice for industrial and specialized applications. The cable meets UL/CSA standards, guaranteeing safety and reliability.
Construction and properties
The cable is made of tinned copper strands, class 5 (flexible multi-strand), which ensures flexibility and ease of installation. The insulation of the strands and the outer jacket are made of silicone, a material known for its excellent dielectric properties and temperature resistance. The strands are twisted longitudinally, and a protective conductor (yellow-green) is present from 3 strands upwards. The marking of the strands is carried out in accordance with DIN VDE 0293-308 – black or colored strands with white numbering (in the two-strand version brown and blue). The cable is halogen-free, which increases safety in the event of a fire – during combustion it leaves only a SiO2 coating.
Applications and benefits
The cable is used in a wide range of industries, including:
- Power plants: Due to its resistance to high temperatures and lack of halogens.
- Steel, aerospace and shipbuilding industries: Demanding working environments.
- Ceramics, glass and cement plants: Exposure to extreme temperatures.
- Flexible connections: High flexibility makes it easy to route cables in tight spaces.
Additional advantages:
- Wide operating temperature range: from -60°C to +180°C (short-term up to +220°C).
- Chemical resistance: to oils, greases, alcohols, acids, alkalis and other chemicals.
- Radiation resistance: up to 20x106 cJ/kg (up to 20 Mrad).
- Compliance with standards: UL Style 4476, CSA AWM II A/B and DIN VDE 0482-332-1-2 / DIN EN 60332-1-2 / IEC 60332-1 / CSA FT1.
- Low smoke during combustion: thanks to the absence of halogens.
The cross-section of the cable is 35 mm², and the rated voltage U is 500 V. The outer diameter of the cable is approximately 32.9 mm. The minimum bending radius is 7.5x cable diameter for flexible bending and 4x cable diameter for stationary bending.
