Silicone cable for extreme conditions
This black, multi-strand silicone cable is designed to operate in demanding environments where standard cabling fails. It features exceptional resistance to high and low temperatures, making it an ideal choice for industrial and specialized applications. The cable meets UL/CSA standards, guaranteeing safety and reliability.
Construction and properties
The cable is made of tinned copper strands (class 5 or 6 depending on the standard), providing flexibility and good conductivity. The insulation of the strands and the outer jacket are made of silicone, a material resistant to temperatures up to +180°C (short-term up to +220°C) and low temperatures down to -60°C. The strands are twisted longitudinally, and a protective conductor (yellow-green) is present in versions from 3 strands upwards. The marking of the strands is carried out in accordance with DIN VDE 0293-308 – black strands with white numbering or colored strands. The cable is halogen-free, increasing safety in the event of a fire and minimizing the emission of toxic substances. Additionally, it exhibits resistance to many oils, greases, acids, alkalis, and atmospheric conditions and UV radiation.
Applications and benefits
The HELUTHERM SiHF-UL/CSA cable is used in a wide range of industries: power plants, steel industry, aerospace, shipbuilding, metallurgy (ceramics, glass, cement plants). It is perfect as a flexible connecting cable in places exposed to extreme temperatures or requiring high reliability. Its dielectric properties and insulation resistance at high temperatures ensure long-term and safe operation. In the event of a fire, it leaves only a SiO2 coating – it does not spread flames in accordance with DIN VDE 0482-332-1-2 / DIN EN 60332-1-2 / IEC 60332-1 and CSA FT1 standards. The cross-section of 6 mm² allows for the transmission of appropriate current in various applications. The outer diameter of the cable is approximately 16.4 mm. The rated voltage is 500 V.
